Murrells Inlet 2020 Annual Chowder Talk
Join Murrells Inlet 2020 at its Annual Community Chowder Talk to learn about what is happening in the Inlet. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at Murrells Inlet Community Center on Murrells Inlet. Complimentary chowder and beverages will be served at 6:30 pm. The meeting will run 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
MI2020 will provide an update on its projects and programs, and will present the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award and the 2013 Golden Oyster Award. The Golden Oyster Award recognizes a business, organization and/or individual whose action shows respect and care for the Inlet landscape and waters. Dr. H. P. "Pat" Worrell (1943 - 2009) of Murrells Inlet was a dentist, civic leader and long-time environmental activitist. Pat believed that the Inlet is a special place and its future depends on achieving a healthy balance between development, commercial use and preservation. The quality of our lives as Murrells Inlet residents depends on the quality of the Inlet itself -- its ecological health and vitality. The health of the Inlet, in turn, depends on each of us.

A Lowcountry Evening at Sunnyside - Gala & Wine Tasting
Murrells Inlet 2020 proudly presents “A Lowcountry Evening at Sunnyside” on Saturday, November 14, 2014 at historic Sunnyside Plantation in Murrells Inlet. Soak in a tranquil natural Southern setting with its century-old cedars and majestic live oaks draped in Spanish Moss. Step back in time as you tour the old Sunnyside home built circa 1850 by planter Jacob Motte Alston. The one-and-a-half story Greek revival style house, which is constructed of heart pine with beaded cypress weatherboards, an oval mahogany flying staircase, and large columns on the front, will be open for viewing.
A delicious selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres and a fabulous variety of desserts will be available for tasting. We will have an open bar and offer an assortment of fine wines and traditional cocktails. "Band on Fire" will be our entertainment with plenty of dancing! The silent auction will feature an exciting array of local artwork, trips, catered parties and much more. Attire is Lowcountry Casual. The event is rain or shine. Guests can purchase tickets at a reduced rate of $100 per person through October 31, 2014. After October 31, 2014, tickets will cost $125 per person.
