Project Morse Park!

Morse Park, located on the south end of Murrells Inlet adjacent to the Jetty Walk, is Murrells Inlet's only waterfront park. It is home to the Lost at Sea Memorial and is a place where residents launch kayaks and jon boats, stroll, walk pets and enjoy a waterfront view. Morse Park is also located on the bike path, which runs through Murrells Inlet and connects to the Huntington Beach bike bridge. The Park is in dire need of beautification, improvements, and updates. Murrells Inlet 2020's goal is to totally redevelop the Park making it a feature destination; a place for families and our community to have creek front access, picnic areas, benches, a modern playground area, bike stop, and outdoor space for all to enjoy!

Morse Park New & Improved Features!

  • Completely update the park grounds, with sod, local vegetated landscaping and neatly defined park borders. In general, a new landscaping beautification plan. Enhancing the park's full space and view, with a manicured look.
  • Install a limestone walking path around the perimeter of the park for recreation. The pervious limestone will act to absorb water and decrease stormwater runoff into the Inlet.
  • Design and install two rain gardens with native, salt tolerant plantings that act as natural filtration systems for stormwater runoff, keeping our inlet water clean.
  • Install educational rain garden signage highlighting the role rain gardens play in keeping our water clean and our watershed healthy.
  • Construct an attractive wooden bridge over the north rain garden to allow access from the parking area to the park.
  • Install high-quality park benches and picnic tables.
  • Install bike racks and pet waste stations.
  • Design and construct an open-air gazebo near the waterfront; providing shade, seating and a place to enjoy the view for community events.
  • Playground!! Install a state-of-the-art playground with slides, monkey bars, swing set, etc. Designed by professionals for families.

How Can You Help?

Murrells Inlet 2020 is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for residents, businesses, civic organizations, and others to sponsor the soon to be fully redeveloped Morse Park. Your tax-deductible donation will help to create a signature park for our community to enjoy now and for future generations. Donations can be made in the name of a family, a business, a civic organization, in honor or memory of a loved one, or for anyone who wants to leave a legacy.

This is such an important project for our community - so important, in fact, that a private donor has stepped up to MATCH every gift, up to $50,000, to help us reach our goal of fully funding Morse Park. Will your gift be one of them?
